Little Pink Houses Of Hope!
Words cannot describe what such a wonderful week I had this past week. I'm beyond grateful for all the wonderful people in the world. Especially for the ones for who started this wonderful organization, and of course the people who donate to it and help make this wonderful retreat possible. So a couple months ago my mom applied to win a free vacation for our family through the nonprofit organization called Little Pink Houses Of Hope (and you can read more about them at their website http://www.littlepink.org/ ) we didn't give much thought to it after since a ton of families apply and 10 get chosen for each retreat. A couple weeks ago my mom got a phone call non other then more the Little Pink people telling her that we had been picked to go on the retreat at Avon in the Outer Banks, North Carolina. My family and I couldn't have been more excited because an all expense paid vacation just to get away and meet other families who know what its like to have a mom with breast cancer. So we packed our bags and drove down on Sunday May 12. It took about 7 and half hours but it was defiantly worth the drive, plus we weren't the furthest drive. Once we arrived we met with our volunteer star Charlie at a local beach house reality building. After going over some stuff he took us to our beach house. I love the fact the their a great people in the world like family who donated their beach house to my family for free. The beach house was beautiful and it was so nice to wake up every morning and fall asleep to the sight of the ocean right across the road. Charlie Ball was such a wonderful volunteer and I don't think I could have asked for a better person to help my family. He is such a great person all around. He kept the smiles and great times going around. I can't wait to cross road s with him in the future. Also the wonderful lady who started it all Jeanine Patten-Coble. There aren't enough wonderful words to describe how thankful I am for her. If you ever have the chance to meet her you won't regret it. She truly changed my life and my families life for the better. All the other volunteers who helped out with this retreat and all the other retreats are such wonderful people and I'm so glad I got to meet them too and hear their stories of how they helped and were involved with cancer. You can check out what we did throughout this glorious week at the blog link provided because Charlie sums it up better then I ever could haha http://www.littlepink.org/2013/05/ . The whole week was glorious and it was so nice to just get away from the world., and that's truly what the retreat was for. I still wish I was there but sadly I had to get back to reality and finish these last 12 days of school. Also I had my lacrosse tournament yesterday. The results- we lost our 1st game, won our 2nd, and lost our 3rd game but it was a very close and we worked our butts off and had a great time. I had such a great season and I couldn't have asked for a better team! We ended our season with a record of 13-5 GO RVLLA! I hope you all had a great week and weekend. Bring on the May flowers!
Ello readers, sorry I haven't posted in awhile. I can't believe it;s already May!! April showers bring on the May flowers! I had a great weekend this past weekend (of course haha)! I got to visit my friend Hannah for her birthday in Williamsburg. Saturday we spent the day at Bush Gardens and then ended the day at the outlet mall. We had a awesome Saturday. Bush Gardens was so much fun we practically rode every roller-coaster hehe expect for 2. It was my first time at the one is Williamsburg, but I grew up going to the one in Tampa. Both are very fun, but I think I still prefer the Tampa one cause ya know born a Sunshine State girl, always a Sunshine State girl! Sunday we went back to the outlet mall, but the other side of it. I ended up getting 2 shirts from the Vans Store, because they were having sale and who doesn't love sales!! I ended up missing 2 lacrosse games on Saturday, which I found out that we lost. Making us 8-4 and I can't complain because even though its nice to win, winning isn't everything and should be about playing your best and enjoying yourself. Since Sunday it has been practically nonstop raining. It's so frustrating because both lacrosse practices were cancelled this week and we have a game Saturday. I just hope we don't have a funk during the game. I mean I would be okay if it thunder-stormed for 2 days, but no it has just been wimpy hard rain and a little bit of thunder. My allergies are even more irritating I've had a runny/stuffy nose since Friday and I hate it!! I'm also so blessed that my family was accepted to attend Little Pink Houses of Hope at Avon Beach, NC. I'm looking very forward to this all expense paid vacation! So grateful that there are such great people in the world who raise money for great causes, and help with these kind of struggles people go through! Plus that there are awesome people who think of these ideas because dealing with a person in your family who has cancer is never easy. Especially with my mums case since this is her 2nd time being diagnosed with cancer. So this Saturday my family is packing up and heading to the beach to spend some family time together and meet 9 other families who are dealing with breast cancer. Nothing beats spending a week on the beach and missing school! To my lack of favor the week has seemed to be going by slow. Of course it does because I'm looking so forward to the weekend! Only 28 more days till my last day of Middle School! I'm so excited to finally be over with it and finally be in High School!! Also if you live in the Chicago area please go check out my friend Riley aka Tryptonek who will be playing at the Electric Circus Tour! The following link to his Facebook page will give you more information https://www.facebook.com/TheOfficialTryptonek?fref=ts . CONGRATS RILEY!! The song I leave you all with today is "Diane Young"By: Vampire Weekend. Have a great rest of the week and weekend! ~Veronica <3
